We've had glorious weather here in Vancouver sunshine all the way it sure makes a change:) Saturday headed downtown with David and Nadine wandered along the shore at English Bay stopped for a beer, them not me designated driver you see. Had made dinner reservations at Sura a Korean restaurant on Robson Street recommended by Nadine's brother. When I tell you none of us had ever eaten Korean food or even stepped inside a Korean Restaurant you can imagine the problem we presented for the young waitress who served us. I'm a veggie, eat fish but no meat and if a dish has been too close to the pepper pot it's too hot pour moi! The only "Red Hot Chilly Peppers" I'm vaguely OK with don't come sizzling hot on a plate surprising when you consider we lived in Bombay for six years, Saigon and Singapore for at least two and other countries where the cuisine favours fire ...... anyway many turns of the menu pages along with many "What do you suggests?" and we had completed our order which was undoubtedly over the top fellow diners had far more room on their tables than we did and no doubt looked at the token "Westerners" thinking "Ah that's why they visit the gym so often:)" Especially when every morsel was eventually finished, David had a very healthy appetite for all things HOT .... HOT ... HOTTER!!
Food was excellent restaurant buzzing, the line up long with a 45 mins wait for a table, glad we booked. Our charming young waitress was patient, helpful, never stopped smiling, conferenced with the chef a couple of times, recommended an excellent bottle of red which seemed to go down well judging by the rapid amount of pourings and the fact the bottle emptied very quickly. All in all a most enjoyable culinary experience we shall return although the young waitress may wish otherwise.
David and Nadine off to Telegraph Cove on Vancouver Island in the morning to go whale watching sightings have been brilliant, fingers crossed for their trip.
