Our first non housesitting Christmas in five years and it was most enjoyable. We missed not having family, friends and fur babies to share our time and food but did have company on Christmas Day, Karen and David a couple from Oz housesitting here in BC one of the great aspects of our housesitting lifestyle the wonderful people we would otherwise never meet.
Yes I'm back in San Diego with the adorable one ... I have his love affair going with Alfie. This time I'm also looking after Chewy, a miniature Alfie and my home owner, daughter's little puppy. I left BC and -7 and snow only to find rain in S California but it's good news for the State as they are going through the worst drought in living memory. Here until the 9th when I head back to BC and more snow no doubt.
It's been a while and I apologise, much has happened www.trustedhousesitters.com continues to grow at an incredible pace and I'm getting busier just as rapidly. It's brilliant Andy and Rachel have worked so hard, they deserve their success ... and more!
John turned 70 on November 30th and still doesn't look a day over 50. I had a few surprises up my sleeve, a portrait by Jennifer Brouse of Vancouver, stunning painting from a photograph taken in Las Vegas in 2012, when John played being an F1 driver and had great fun putting a Ferrari through it's paces at Dream Racing Las Vegas.
Second surprise was our daughter Nicole flying over for 5 days, arriving on John's birthday. I had to tell a few white lies all day as she wasn't arriving in Vancouver until 4.00 pm and as I also had a course booked in the city it meant being out all day, on his big day. So arriving home at 6.00pm Nicky gets out of the car, before I park in the garage, 5 mins later she rings the front door bell I make John answer the door and laughter, tears and a "How did you get here?" moments later he's asking me "Did you know she was here????" Errr yes I picked her up from the airport!!!
We had a great few days ... watch this space and when I'm not on THS Live Chat will tell you all
We first looked after Alfie the gorgeous, adorable Labradoodle in January 2013 though www.trustedhousesitters.com Six weeks in Manhattan in his parent's Fifth Avenue apartment .... we had a brilliant time. Fast forward to October 2014, Mum and Dad have moved to San Diego, California and we're once again looking after the boy in his beautiful new home. Nearly two years have flown by but he didn't forget his doting sitters he gave us a royal "You're back, Yippee!" welcome.
The pets we look after are our joy ...

We are just enquiring about your Trusted House Sitters service. We live on the Sunshine Coast located in QLD, Australia. We have 2 very cute & gorgeous English Cocker Spaniels (Jack & Bailey). We would like to go overseas next year (possibly 2-3wks-still to be decided) & would like a very responsible person/couple to look after our boys in our home. Jack suffers from epilepsy & needs medication every 8hrs approx. It is very important that he has his medication on time as this prevents any unforeseen seizures. Obviously, we are very hesitant to travel & we wouldn't go away unless we knew the boys were in very responsible hands.
Can you pls tell me how your service works & what is involved.

One year ago we left on our marathon house sitting travels first stop was Spain, then the UK, then back to Spain and back to the UK finally LA for two weeks arriving home a few days ago.
When I have a few moments to breath I will write all about our adventures .... it was huge fun there was lots of laughter and yes and an equal number of tears but then I'm very emotional when it comes to pets, family and friends.
If you've been following my blog I've written many accounts of various travels and experiences but must write a real story if only so I remember everything in 6 months time. But for now it's back to work for the greatest house sitting org on the planet www.trustedhousesitters.com
What are the odds? I'm on Santa Monica Prom and get asked by a couple of fellow Brits if I'd take a photo. Usual conversation "Where Are you from etc" turns out they hailed from Essex, yes I admit it I have a connection, my daughter's a vet there:)) Anyway then we get to the why I'm in SM, the word Housesitting is mentioned "No kidding we were only talking this morning about doing that when we retire" ... 20 mins later we "wilted" company, well it was 100+ degrees and we weren't in the shade!!
So after meeting the Essex couple I stroll around SM, remember it is 100+ plus, get my lunch to go then head back to the car park unbeknown to me there are 4 identical multi story CP's in Santa Monica all within 4 blocks of each other, I just happened to choose the wrong one (didn't know that at the time obviously otherwise would have been in the right one) for almost 30 mins I was convinced my home owner's (and now dear friends) car had been stolen. I almost expired not only from the heat but my racing heart and BP .. I'll not reveal how I found the car, far too embarrassing, after all things like that never happen to moi!!
There must have been something in the air, stars or it was simply confused karma that day as a friend and I went to the movies in the evening and when we returned to her car she couldn't find her keys, anywhere, we were about to go back into the theatre to search around the seats when I glance down and there were the keys underneath the front tire also what we hadn't seen (it was too small) was a note on the windshield telling Jerri where the keys were.
Some dear, kind soul had found them ...... thank you, thank you, if only you had left a phone number.
Sometimes we just need to be reminded we are indeed human and there are honest kind people all over ...."To err is human; to forgive, divine. Pope.
I love LA, the weather, the vibe, the shopping, Santa Monica, the Getty Museum, Beverly Hills, Hollywood, Amici's Italian restaurant in Brentwood. Cost Plus they sell Heinz Baked Beans and real English tea. Then there's Trader Joes, their Orange Champagne Vinegar, drizzled over salad is quite delicious, no other dressing needed. I do wonder though why the US and Canadian dairy industry cannot make decent cheese and why the cheese they do produce has to cost a weeks wages, a slight exaggeration but I'm making a point here. So I'm back, back with my lovely Stella who remembered me from last October, I was here for two weeks before flying to Spain in fact she always remembers me no doubt until Mum walks back through the door then it's goodbye Aunty A and that's exactly how it should be.
Oh and I read they have snow in Alberta supposedly the earliest recorded fall ... ever! Looking out on the LA sunshine will do fine by me thank you:))
Here for another 10 days when my dear friends and home owners return from Spain Stella and I are having fun as always she's as much of a Princess now as she's always been. "When walking Stella SHE will lead you ... not the right way (for her) we stop, turn around and proceed in the right direction ... her direction"
Come the 21 October I'm off to Las Vegas for three days on business (my business:)) unfortunately my other dear friends wont be there so I'll just have to kick back on my own. Then it's back to BC on 23rd for a month before heading south again to San Diego and Alfie ... yes New York Alfie he's moved from the frozen North West to sunny California and we get to look after him again ... yeah!!
Big blog soon to come .... we've been traveling and house sitting with www.trustedhousesitters.com for almost 12 months non stop. Heading back across the pond very soon have a date with the lovely Miss Stella, of LA California.
