Since our arrival in Spain in October 2013 we've completed one six month pet and house sit with Bruno, who sadly passed away in February and five days looking after Dory and Quartz for the home owners neighbour. Home was a beautiful villa with stunning views of the Med, North African coast and Gibraltar in the very appealing Spanish White Benalmadena Pueblo. We're now in Mijas Pueblo for two months with Lucky another sweet rescue soul. John and Lucky have developed a real love affair it's delightful to see, it also means Lucky is really happy and not missing Mum and Dad too much, giving them absolute peace of mind to enjoy their cruise.
I have another pet sit starting tomorrow in Alhurain le Grande looking after three dogs, two cats and a lovely old farm house in about two acres. John will stay here in Mijas with Lucky bringing her over to Alhurain for a few days vacation, I asked Lucky's owners if that was OK when they called from Cape Town this morning they said as long as she's happy. We took her there yesterday she had a ball running with the other dogs, like humans, some anyway, they need the company of other four legged creatures it's called socialising ..... being sociable:))
Apart from Niles and Frasier the Burmese cats, all the pets we've been caring for were rescued by their owners. Their individual stories are different but have an all too common and sad thread, the cruelty some humans are capable of. Cruelty I cannot begin to understand, my heart and brain simply can't compute how or why and yet these beautiful souls continue to give back unconditional love a fact that never ceases to amaze and humble me.
This is why we love and get such joy from this pet and house sitting journey we're on
