August 2nd was our 22nd wedding anniversary and what better way to celebrate than spending an evening at the Hollywood Bowl, our first and definitely not our last visit. Summer at the Hollywood Bowl is THE LA experience. Pack a picnic or book a table at one of the restaurants, go early, enjoy the atmosphere and then any of the amazing concerts from the LA Philharmonic playing Verdi's Aida, to an evening with Willie Nelson or Natalie Cole, Jazz concerts, Musicals and fireworks all in an outdoor theatre right in the heart of Hollywood.
Friday night we were thrilled to spend an evening with Mr Tony Bennett on the eve of his 87th birthday, his years may be moving on but the voice simply ageless, he was a joy to the senses. I saw him at the Royal Albert Hall in London seven years ago the years may have affected us mortals but certainly not the voice of "The greatest singer in the World" .... quoting a Frank Sinatra intro. http://www.royalalberthall.com/
That was Friday.
Saturday we returned for a different kind of musical experience, a trip down the memory lane of our youth courtesy of the dynamic Miss Diana Ross. What is it with these artists who's talent and popularity never fade. Concert was a sell out eighteen thousand party goers, a veritable melting pot of the human race, from every era. John had two young women next to him I would say in their early twenties, they knew every word and every action to every song, Miss Ross you were amazing!! .........Tamla Motown Lives on!!!!
Spending Sunday evening with our friends, Eileen and Brian rounded off a great weekend. Meeting at their home we were joined by one of Eileen's neighbours who has a Springer called Nicky, one of my favourite breeds with my daughter's name (camera at ready) and Annette a friend from BC who sat for Eileen and looked after Stella last year when we were unable to, with her friend from Calgary. All of these connections are thanks to pet/house sitting without which none of us would ever have met!! Another fun evening in great company and another first ... we ate at THE very first Cheesecake Factory ever to open right in the centre of Beverley Hills. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Cheesecake_Factory
Oh and BTW their cheesecake isn't a patch on Junior's of Brooklyn, or mine ...... in my humble opinion of course:))http://www.juniorscheesecake.com/
