Taking us across five continents in almost 10 years I cannot think of any other form of travel other than house and pet sitting where we'd get to see and experience life in local communities, getting under the skin of cities, towns, and the countryside, the people and culture. Our travels have purpose we're not simply on vacation. Making new friends both two and four legged is unavoidable! Without a shadow of a doubt this house sitting travel lifestyle has enriched our retirement beyond measure and without putting us in the poor house, imagine the accommodation bills traveling at least 7 months of the year, one week in a five star hotel minimum $2500, I'll take the FREE luxury option any day thank you.
2013 took us to Las Vegas for a month, six weeks in Manhattan, Vancouver Island for two weeks, a week on a small ranch in Snoqualmie, WA, five weeks in San Francisco, four weeks in LA, and in October we started a six month assignment on the Costa del Sol in southern Spain, enjoying a lovely villa with views of the Mediterranean and the company of a dear and lovable Doberman named Bruno. 2013 saw our pet sitting family grow by 17 dogs, 9 cats, two horses, numerous fish and birds and our circle of friends grow to include all the doting owners.
2014 has been just as busy, so far we've completed nine house sits in Spain and here in the UK, looking after 11 dogs, 6 cats and helping with 17 horses at A.R.C.H. We've other assignments booked in the UK and the States. If only we could clone ourselves and time travel the count would be even higher. I've had to turn down 4 pet sits with beloved #Springers and many others so far this year .... if only!
But for now we're in Hay on Wye staying with a very dear friend and preparing for her BBB (Big BIrthday Bash) on Saturday .... everyone send sun karma in this direction please!
