Beachy Head is a chalk headland in Southern England, close to the town of Eastbourne in the county of East Sussex, immediately east of the Seven Sisters. Beachy Head is located within the administrative area of Eastbourne Borough Council which owns the land. The cliff there is the highest chalk sea cliff in Britain, rising to 162 metres (531 ft) above sea level. The peak allows views of the south east coast from Dungeness in the east, to Selsey Bill in the west. Its height has also made it one of the most notorious suicide spots in the world. Sadly just three days ago another body was found at the foot of the cliffs. This is a very beautiful and compelling place but with a Samaritans board next to a great rarity in this country, a public phone box chillingly located directly opposite the cliffs it serves as a stark reminder that this is also a place of great tragedy.
We shall not forget our visit here. The sun was shining, visitors were many lets hope and pray there's light at the end of the tunnel for those who believe there's only darkness.
