While I went to California to look after Miss Stella John came directly from Canada to the Spanish assignment, spending a few days with the home owner something we always try to do although it doesn't always work out that way which is fine we've been doing this for so long we're confident enough to take over with or without the owner on site. Where pets are concerned though having Mum or Dad around helps everyone with the transition, getting to visit and meet the veterinarian, being shown favourite walks, daily routine etc., and whilst we advise writing all this down in the “Pets Profile” seeing it through the owners eyes can be a great advantage.
The villa and location, www.benalmadena-arroyo.com is wonderful, amazing sea and coastal views the sunrise and sunsets are stunning.
Bruno is a sweet, affectionate Doberman so lucky to have been rescued by his Mum many years ago, although I think when we rescue any creature it's the humans who have the REAL luck. As a puppy Bruno was beaten constantly, “training” to turn him into a vicious guard dog it didn't work and he was tossed aside. The appalling treatment left it's mark in many ways for instance when he goes to the vet in spite of what he's going through being painful, he doesn't flinch or make a sound. He's had a wonderful life since finding his human family and in his senior year is now deaf, has cataracts and arthritis .... just like his TLCarers:) The day after John arrived Bruno suffered a stroke, quite common in animals of his age thankfully he's recovering well, long may it continue.
I'm always humbled by an animals ability to love and trust human beings in spite of the suffering far too many experience from the very ones who should love and protect them ......the human race can learn much if they would only look inwards.
Our six months here in Spain pet sitting Bruno and house sitting his lovely home will be a great opportunity to explore the area, immerse ourselves in the culture and become a local in the community just the way we like it, the way house sitting travel allows.
