House sit number three since October 2013, a lovely old farmhouse set in almost 2 acres just one kilometer outside of Alhurain le Grande, Malaga. There are friends we've made since being in Spain just around the corner. We had a lovely dinner with a couple last night who are leaving to return to their home in Ireland, just for a while, declaring they'll always return to Andalusia where the living is easy, although at 50 something life is a little too easy at times for them ….. they need a little more action, Ireland their home and animals have just that! We still have our Mijas assignment looking after the Pueblo townhouse and Lucky. John and Lucky have joined me here in Alhurain, with both home owners permission .... excuse me for a moments intermission, I'm sitting on the terrace, by the pool "working" and my husband has just arrived with afternoon tea and cake, back in a mo folks!
One question often asked is “Can I house sit with my own pets?” We've just lived that question. We brought Lucky here for a “test” run with, Maggie, Canella and senior lady, Alice and apart from Alice establishing her seniority the girls all got on so well we decided to give Lucky a vacation with some four legged friends. She and Maggie have become firm buddies playing all the time. We think they're both about the same age, three or four, although with rescue dogs you're never quite certain. We've had to split them up for the morning walks taking Lucky out of the mix. John walks her separately, more for our nerves than anything else. Lucky is a hunting dog, Maggie a follower and follower and follower, neither coming to heel or anywhere close to it once they get the scent of something that needs chasing and with miles and miles of open land to run in (and off) we've decided the risk of losing either of them is far too great, so have taken the very necessary precautions …. we don't want a heart attack either!!
So to answer the question "Can I house sit with my own pets?" it really depends on the animals, space and the environment. A test run is a must, don't ever assume that because you know your dog all will be well, it may not and once committed it could be too late.

The weather is amazing right now, my key board is so hot no kitty would dare sit on it! The air is thick with the fragrance of orange and lemon blossoms, even though there's still fruit on the trees and we are enjoying our Andalusian Interlude, house sitting style immensely only for another couple of weeks though because we'll soon be heading to Hay on Wye, UK for a Welsh experience.
Before that we have Easter and the festival and parade spectacular that the Spanish are famous for another Laws experience of the very first kind …. will post the pictures!!
