There are times when the police and their methods are called into question. Unfortunately, as with everything in life, it's usually the negative that gets all the attention, its what feeds today's 24 hour news environment not many good stories are reported so I'm sharing this one. Philly now has his own Facebook Page with 46+ thousand followers. Read more about this wonderful story and very brave and lucky dog https://www.facebook.com/RescuingPhilly?fref=ts
Philly was hit by a car and left lying on a sidewalk for over 5hrs, no one had helped him. We (LAPD Officers) rushed him to the ER at Advanced Veterinary Care Center, where his is getting treatment now. His left front leg needs to be completely repaired.

PHILLY UPDATE... VERY IMPORTANT...
"Philly's Phamily and Phriends we have truly been dreading this day for about a year now. We have met with the 2 surgeons that work with us on a regular basis and they both let us know that Philly's bone is not healing. They said that the best option for Philly would be to remove (amputate) his leg.
Our hearts are breaking because he has been through so much and has fought so hard. This is the best option for him to be healthy and happy. That alone is the priority for us.
We have known for a couple of days now that this needs to take place. Valerie and I needed to take time to wrap our heads around it and find a way to let Philly's Phamily and Phriends know. You have been on this road with us since the beginning and we know that this would break your hearts. We are sorry for that.
Philly's X-rays are on this post they are the ones that have been recently taken. For those of you who can read X-rays (we can't) you can see that his bone is compromised in an area that it shouldn't be.
So, we're going to remain positive and embrace this next obstacle ahead of our boy. We know that he will get through and still be one of the coolest dogs there are.
The surgery is taking place on Monday and it is going to range from $4-6k. He will be at the hospital for a couple of days and we will get him on Wednesday.
We promise to have regular updates on him and his new journey that he has ahead. One thing we know is Philly is a Phighter and it's time for him to be physically happy.
Say a prayer for our boy. Thank you again for all of your support and understanding"
As you can see from the picture below, Philly in his garden, the surgery was a complete success he's fully recovered and living happily with his forever family and giving unconditional love, in spite of his trauma. Animals deal with amputation of limbs usually incredibly well, our daughter is an Emergency and Critical Care Vet tells amazing stories of her patients, their bravery and fortitude.
